well the lost wax method creates a sand casting of the product. there are lots of methods for casting using sand and aluminum or something similar. there are lots of different methods, and it depends on what you’re making and how it’s made.
as for safety. your dealing with hot metal. moisture is a problem it will spit molten metal if the metal comes in contact with water.
