The bezels may have been cast, or they may have been forged.  They could be made out of any metal.  

But you can&#039;t cast metal with opal in it.  Opal is quartz with water in it and the opal will be destroyed if it&#039;s left under high heat.  It also means you don&#039;t want to leave your opal necklace in a hot car. 

Of course, I&#039;m guessing this is a real opal necklace, and not a created opal necklace.  There are a couple types of created opals and they vary in quality.</description>
