How to melt casting Grain properly?

I am trying to make a ring with some expensive sterling silver casting grain i bought, im using cuttle bone casting and i know how to make the cast. i have an MAPP gas torch and thats supposed to do the job but im still having some problems: sometimes the metal only goes halfway down the cast so does that mean that im not heating the metal up enough, i wait until its melted in the crucible and then some, then i pour. are you supposed to wait longer? also since i tried this already with the silver, the silver has been melted and is no longer casting grain but chunks of noticeably unsuccessful attempts, is this a problem, grain cost me alot of money so please help! thanks

999 Fine Silver Classic Ingot being poured at Market Harmony

Classic Ingots are so named because they are reminiscent of the old West days of miners bullion. Each ingot is made using only .999+ fine silver casting grain and weigh 10 troy ounces each. When it comes to stacking, no other style of bullion can rival the attractiveness of a perfectly formed stack of Classic Ingot. Casting is only the first stage in production. After the product is cast, it is then cleaned of the outer layer of dirt to expose the bare metal. It is then stamped and mechanically polished. Each product is then check against our quality standards before leaving our doors.

The Spangle Maker – TSM 002 (2/13) – The Softest Chord

From Alpha (2008) === Here the river writes its music Skims along a silent flow On a wide, unbroken mirror Sky above and sky below Willow trees bow down in homage The processing suzerain With a court of vessels in her Train River strike the softest chord And mourn for your love Weeping waves lapping the shore Are torn from your love Here the air is shimmering silver Casting droplets on the leaves Peering through a passing spirit Asking why the lady grieves River lady, floating gently Trail your fingers cross the miles Once your laughter made these waters Smile River strike the softest chord The strings of your lyre Are the rushes round the shore The boat is a pyre Yield the mirror to the prow And carry her down Swirling eddies in her wake The skirt of her gown Rivers flow but one direction Tide may turn, but never time Now the banks but breathe an echo Of the river in her prime What is lost must live in shadows Slowly sink beside the quay Glancing back, the future slips Away River strike the softest chord The song of a soul Run the ever-turning world Aground on your shoal But the music in reply Fades into the trees And the river lady sighs And melts in the sea. what is a simple way to tell the difference between a zinc casting and an aluminum casting?

I am getting into home metal casting and am worried that I might accidentally include a zinc part in my aluminum, which would cause it vaporize and put out poison fumes. Is there a simple way to identify zinc as opposed to aluminum?

What is the name of the insurance company the GH & R foundry of dayton ohio used?

My Dad worked for this company and he lost all info in a house fire. His retirement benefits is what we are trying to find. He worked there in 1960′s through 1970′s. The company has been removed and is now named something else.

Is my silver penny worth more than I think?

I recently found a 1943 “silver” penny. The United States was short on copper because of the war and resorted to making zinc-covered steel pennies. I know of people that discovered copper pennies from this same year. These were accidentally cast in copper and are extremely rare. My penny, although silver-colored, seems to have some traces of copper mixed in. It is magnetic, suggesting that it is made of steel and zinc, but what about the bits of copper color showing through? Is this just many years taking a toll on the steel and zinc, or is my penny worth more than I think?
