Painting cast iron radiators
Painting cast iron radiators
So you have sourced some wonderful reclaimed cast iron radiators, or you want to refurbish your Victorian period radiators, but what is the best way of bringing them back to their former glory? What is the best way of painting cast iron radiators?
Below are a few tips to achieving a stunning yet hard-wearing finish on cast iron radiators.
1. DON’T power coat!
Some companies offer a powder coating service on cast iron radiators. This method can produce a fabulous finish, BUT… cast iron radiators are not designed to go through the high oven temperatures and prolonged baking process involved in powder coating. Many experts advise against this option as there is a very real risk that the seals between sections will be damaged during baking which will lead to leaking radiators. For this reason, powder coating will invalidate the manufacturer’s guarantee on modern cast iron radiators.
2. DO use cellulose or acrylic based paint
There is no need to use expensive specialist radiator paints. You can achieve a perfect finish using cellulose-based paint or acrylic-based spray paint. For instance, car paint is perfect for radiators as it is designed to cope with extremes of temperature and be tough enough to withstand relatively intense wear and tear. If you like the look of powder coating, then a similar looking end result can be achieved by using products like “Plasti-kote”, a spray paint available from many DIY stores.
3. DON’T use water based paint
If you use water based paint on cast iron you will almost certainly end up with orange “rust blooms”. Some “specialist” radiator paint is water based and even has a picture of a cast iron radiator on the tin but use this at your peril!
4. DO spray paint rather than brush paint
Cast iron’s textured finish is forgiving, so a good paint finish is easily achievable. If you are planning on painting the radiators yourself by hand, then we recommend using spray paint as it is difficult to reach into the middle columns and achieve a consistent finish using a brush.

What you Need to Consider in your Search for a Chiminea
What you Need to Consider in your Search for a Chiminea
The tribesmen back in Mexico, during the 17th century, introduced to the world of fire pits and fire places a new structure that served the same purpose. Its characteristic long neck attached to the rounded bottom resembles a chimney and serves a similar purpose there as well. It is an outdoor fireplace that can also be used to grill skewers and cook meat. When not in use they are an ornamental addition to the garden or patio. These are normally made up of clay, aluminum and cast iron. You must know some facts about chimineas before deciding the kind of chiminea that would be apt for your backyard or other outdoor living space.
When it comes to choosing clay chimineas it sure does sound like a pretty good idea because that is how traditional chimineas used to be. And when used for cooking it produces a lot of heat and its temperature raises high in a short span of time. The food cooked in these clay chimineas may have a different flavoring as well that comes in with the mixture of charcoal and clay particles. These clay chimineas can be either air-dried or kiln-dried. The air-dried version is generally the untreated version and may need some painting to be done to completely coat and seal it. The kiln-dried versions do not require any extra touch ups. The clay chimineas are weakly bound at the neck of the structure i.e. the junction between the end of the round bottom and the start of the neck-like structure so it is not advisable to carry the chimney at the neck.
Metal chimineas as compared to clay chimineas are way better with a lot of advantages over their clay counterparts. Metal chimineas are considerably stronger and more durable. They cannot be easily damaged or broken like the clay chimineas. They do not allow seepage of water into their bodies unlike clay chimineas and thus do not have the limitation of not being able to use in moist surroundings. They also conduct heat very efficiently. However, all the burning activity might give rise to rust on the metal body which needs to be maintained every now and then. Even then the rusty body gives it an antique look and it only enhances its presence as an attractive show piece.
Another thing to be considered is the size of the opening for the fuel inlet. It should be large enough to easily accommodate wood pieces of variable sizes. So it would be productive if you choose a chiminea with a larger bottom. You can also purchase a spark arrester which is a mesh like structure that can be used to cover the opening at the top of the chiminea or at the opening at the bottom. This would prevent sparks from escaping outside and damaging the surrounding. In all, it is a great addition to your backyard with all its uses and its heating properties. Chimineas are a great addition to any outdoor living space.

Rare And Exotic Garden Perennials For Landscape Planting
Rare And Exotic Garden Perennials For Landscape Planting
The term, ‘perennial plant’, means simply that the plant returns following severe freezes, to grow again the next year. Trees are cold hardy tested perennials by nature, some trees that are evergreens and do not go dormant, but merely slow down during various seasons, and other shade trees enter dormancy and shed the leaves. Tree growth of shade trees may stop altogether in extremely cold climates, but in the spring, will surge with buds that open to flower and leaf out.
Great difficulties arise in assigning a plant, ‘perennial’, mainly because the primary determining factor, temperature range varies from year to year; and every century extreme cold temperatures may erase certain plant populations that have survived in areas before for decades or sometimes even centuries. A perennial plant may be a survivor, thus a “perennial” for a given growing area, then suddenly may become extinct in that growing area. The USDA has constructed a zone map that reveals averages of temperatures reached by the location in your State. This map is a nursery tool used to predict whether a perennial will live (cold hardy) in your area.
Agaves are a diverse genus of over 200 species of rosette, spear-like, leafed evergreen perennials. Agave typically grows as low shrub-like plants in dry or well-drained soils of the Southern part of the U.S. from New Jersey down to Florida, and then West to California. Many Agave species, such as Agave americana or Agave tequilana, have sharp recurved, protective teeth running along both sides of the blade of its semi-curved, lance-shaped leaves, with a sharp needle-tip lance at the end. There are Agave species, like Agave attenuata, and Agave stricta, that do not have sharp-teeth at all, but are smooth. The color variations of Agave plants range from shades of green, to silvery-grey, bluish-green, top yellow or white stripes, such is the case with Agave americana ‘media-picta’. The bloom of mother Agave plants are a beautiful array of pendulent bell-shaped, creamy-white flowers soaring high above the mother plant on a flower stem that may reach 20 feet or more for some agave species. The bloom period of a mother Agave plant is during the summer and the flower stalk is magnificent to behold, however, this event means the cycle of life ends for mother Agave and begins again for her Agave offspring. Agave plants are an excellent choice for rock gardens or well drained soils that lend themselves well to terracotta or cement planters. Agaves are fairly slow glowers so expect higher prices on these sunloving garden jewels at retail garden centers. Huge specimen agaves can be quickly delivered by semi-trucks. Recommended Agave cultivar plants are: Agave ‘Victoria-Reginae’; Agave americana; Agave americana ‘Marginata’; Agave americana ‘Media-Picta’; Agave angustifolia ‘Marginata’; Agave attenuata ‘Boutin Blue’; Agave bovicomuta; Agave celsii ‘Nova’; Agave colorata; Agave desmettiana ‘Variegata’; Agave desmettiana ‘Zebra Stripe’; Agave ‘Felipe Otero’; Agave franzosini; Agave geminiflora; Agave lechguilla; Agave parryii; Agave parryii ‘Compacta Variegata’; Agave potatorum ‘Verschaffeltii’; Agave pygmaea; Agave salmiana; Agave stricta ‘Pueblensis’; Agave ‘Shark Skin’; Agave sisalana ‘Variegata’; Agave toumeyana; and Agave tequilana ‘Weberi Blue.’
The ancient Egyptians in 1500 BC grew the Aloe for healing, and while the Pharaoh held all the Jews in captivity, aloes were used as cosmetics and for the sacred healing power of this mysterious perennial. The Book of John, in the New Testament Bible, John 19-39, records that Jesus’ body was wrapped in linen cloths and aloes after the corpse was removed from the crucifiction cross before burial. Aloes are evergreen perennial plants that grow as shub-like, climbing or tree-like plants. The aloe plant leaves are fleshly, succulent, long tongue-shaped groups of rosettes, or as star-patterned limbs. Most forms of the aloe, 300 species genus, have toothed leaf blades with soft to piercing hard teeth. Aloe saponaria and Aloe vera are the two most commonly found containerized aloes in homes and gardens. Aloe vera plant extracts have long been used by mothers on their children for fast relief for minor cuts and burns. Aloe saponaria is cold hardy down to freezing temperatures and is widely grown in Southern gardens for the beautiful, coral-colored, tubular blossoms and for the making of medicated soap. Most aloe plants are small, 1-3 foot tall and width, however, a few tropical aloe species, such as Aloe marlothii grow into large, 120 foot succulent trees. Aloe plant varieties may vary enormously in color from yellow, red to blue-greens, or to spotted or striped with random variegation. Recommended cultivars of Aloes are: Orange Aloe.(Aloe acutissima ‘antaramorensis’) ,Blue Aloe (Aloe acutissima) ,Aloe aristata ‘Montana’ Tree Aloe (Aloe bainsii) Aloe brevifolia Red Aloe (Aloe camronii) Climbing Aloe (Aloe ciliaris) Kokoerbom(Aloe dichotoma) Aloe distans ‘Yellow Teeth’Aloe ‘Dorian Black’ Aloe ellenbeckii White Aloe (Aloe glauca) Aloe kedongensis Bergaalwyn (Aloe marlothii) Gold Tooth Aloe (Aloe nobilis) Tiger Aloe (Aloe nobilis ‘Variegata’) Aloe petricola Spiral Aloe (Aloe polyphylla) Coral Aloe (Aloe strata) SoapAloe (Aloe saponaria) Aloe traskii Medicinal Aloe (Aloe vera) Partridge Breast (Aloe ‘Variegata’) Aloe verdoorniae Aloe ‘White Teeth’.
Fern plants are a beautiful landscape choice or a container perennial, because of the delicate graceful foliage. Fern plants are native to the U.S., and found growing on every continent on the Earth. Some ferns grow well as cold hardy plarts in some areas bordering arctic conditions. A gardener can find a fern perennial to buy in practically any nursery or mail order operation.
Florida tropical perennials are restricted for growing in many States, because of the lack of cold hardy resistance. Some gardeners prefer to plant Florida perennials in greenhouses, or to grow as an annual. Many recommended plants are: Desert Rose, Adenium obesum; Allamanda cathartica; Giant Yellow Shrimp, Barleria micans; Hallmark, Bulbine fruiticasa; Clerodendrum ugandense; Bleeding Hearts, Clerodendrum thomsoniae; Bat Faced Heather, Cupha ilvea; Sapphire Showers, Duranta erecta; Euryops; Bolivian Sunset, Gloxina sylvatica; Iochroma cyaneum; Jatropha integerrima; Ixora; Lantana camara; Orthosiphon stamineus; Pentas; Russelia equisetiformis; Russelia equisetiformis aureus; Stachytarpheta urticifolia; Stachytarpheta mutabilis.
Flowering Vine perennials grow fast to cover fences, lattices, walls, and not only offer rewards of flowers, but many interesting flowers in colors of red, blue, white, pink, and yellow. If planted and grown in the sun, the flowering vines require little care of vine maintenance. Recommended flowering vines to plant are Coral Vine, Antigonon leptopus; White Coral Vine, Antigonon leptopus ‘Alba’; Jekyll Island Vine, Bignonia capreolata; Tangering Beauty, Bignonia capreolata; Night Blooming Jasmine, Cestrum Nocturnum; Bleeding Hearts, Clerodendron thomsoniae; Lavender Trumpet Vine, Clytostoma callistegoides; Carolina Jasmine, Gelsemium sempervirens; Heart Vine, Ipomoea batatas; Chinese Jasmine, Jasminum polyanthum; Brazilian Firecracker Vine, Manettia inflata; Mailbox Plant, Mandevilla x Amblilis; Red Mandevilla, Mandevilla sanderi; Peaches and Cream, Mandevilla ‘Peaches and Cream’; Pink Mandevilla, Mandevilla splendens; White Passion Vine, Passiflora; Blue Passion Vine, Passiflora x Alato-Caerulea; Red Passion Flower, Passiflora coccinea; Lady Banks Rose, Rosa banksiae; Blue Glory Vine, Thunbergia battiscombei; White Sky Vine; Thunbergia grandiflora; Confederate Jasmine, Trachelospermum jasminoides; Blue Wisteria, Wisteria sinensis; White Wisteria, Wisteria sinensis ‘Alba’;
Groundcover perennial plants are beautifully colored and fast growing, to keep soil erosion under control. Recommended groundcover plants are: Ajuga reptans ‘Burgundy Glow’, Burgundy Glow; Allium tuberosum, Society Garlic; Arachis glabrata, Perennial Peanut; Ardisia japonica ‘Variegata’, Ardisia japonica ‘Variegata’; Aspidistra elatior, Cast Iron Plant; Aspidistra elatior ‘Variegata’, Aspidistra elatior ‘Variegata’; Apsidistra lurida ‘Milky Way’, Apsidistra lurida ‘Milky Way’; Asystasia gangetica, Ganges Primrose; Curculigo capitulata, Palm Grass; Ficus repens ‘Variegata’, Creeping Fig Vine; Ficus repens ‘Variegata’, Ficus repens ‘Variegata’; Houttuynia cordata ‘Chameleon’, Chameleon; Liriope; Liriope muscari ‘Big Blue’, Border Grass; Liriope muscari ‘Royal Purple’, Liriope muscari ‘Royal Purple’; Liriope muscari ‘Super Green Giant’; Liriope muscari ‘Variegata’; Liriope muscari ‘Silver Dragon’; Lysimachia congestiflora ‘Eco Dark Satin’, Golden Globes; Ophiopogon intermedius ‘Aztec’; Ophiopogon japonicus nana, Dwarf Mondo Grass; Ophiopogon planiscapus ‘Ebony Knight’, Black Mondo; Persicaria capitatum, Jump Seed; Persicaria microcephala, Red Dragon; Setcreasea pallida, Purple Heart; Setcreasea pallida, Pale Puma; Pseuderanthemum alatum, Chocolate Soldiers; Rubus calycinoides, Emerald Carpet; Scuttelaria longifolia, Red Fountain Sage; Spilanthese oleracea, Eyeball Plant / Toothpaste Plant; Trachelospermum asiaticum, Asiatic Jasmine; Tulbaghia fragrans, White Fragrant Garlic; Tulbaghia violacea, Society Garlic; Tulbaghia violacea ‘Tricolor’, Tricolor, Society Garlic; Vinca major ‘Maculata’, Periwinkle; Vinca major ‘Variegata’, Periwinkle; Vinca major ‘Wojo’s Gem’.

Yucca is a genus of evergreen plants, with approximately 40 species that grow in dry, desert-like areas. However, this is a common misconception, because members of the Yucca family can be found growing in 30 of the States in America, from New Jersey, down to Florida, and west to California. Yuccas can be grown as small shrubs or yucca trees, up to 30 feet tall, depending upon the yucca species. Yucca has lance-shaped leaves growing in a rosette pattern, on a woody stem or trunk-like frame. Yucca plants may vary dramatically in color from shades of green, to white or yellow stripes, to blue-green hues, as with Yucca rostrata, a jewel for any garden. Most yucca plants are stiff and sharp pointed, like the Spanish Bayonet (Yucca aloifolia), while some yuccas have flexable soft leaves, such as Golden Garland Yucca (Yucca flaccida). The flower blooms of yucca grow in summer, and develop into a beautiful, creamy-white pendulum of bell-shaped flowers that tower 8 feet above the mother plant. Yuccas are very adaptable and are among the oldest living trees in the world. The Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia), Yucca filimentosa (Bear Grass or Adam’s Needle) is among the most cold-hardy and widely grown varieties. The strong, stringy filament (fiber), that run a course from the needle tip, down the margin of the leaf, was used by native Americans for making into garments and possibly the treating of war wounds. The roots of Yucca were also used to make soap. The primary use for yucca plants in todays landscapes are for their ornamental beauty, like we find in Yucca flaccida ‘Golden Sword’, in terracotta pots or in ground landscape plantings. Some people use Yucca aloifolia ‘Spanish Bayonet’, Yucca treculeana ‘Spanish Dagger’, or even Yucca brevifolia ‘Joshua Tree’, as security hedges for their beautiful and exotically bazaar, stiff leaves, hence the nickname, “Burlars’ Nightmare.” Yucca plants are typicall sunlovers, growing in well drained soils, but are adaptive and often grow faster in moderately moist areas, such as the Southeastern U.S.. Recommended yucca cultivar plants are: Yucca aloifolia; Yucca brevifolia; Bear Grass, Yucca filamentos; Bright Edge, Yucca filamentosa; Golden Garland, Yucca flaccida; Golden Sword, Yucca flaccida; Ivory Tower, Yucca flaccida; Variegata, Yucca flaccida; Silverstar, Yucca elephantippes; Soft Leaf Yucca, Yucca recurvifolia; Spanish Dagger, Yucca treculeana; Rigida, Yucca rostrata; Linearis, Yucca rostrata; HesperYucca paviflora; Cordyline ‘Baueri.’

Plumbing Tips – Inspection
Plumbing Tips – Inspection
It is clearly important to be able to gain access to all parts of the underground drains. This is usually done by providing inspection chambers at various points. To meet the Building Regulations, cham¬bers have to be provided: at junctions between drains; where the drain changes direction or gradient; at or near the beginning of the drain; and at intervals of not more than 45m on long, straight runs. In between the inspection cham¬bers, the drains should be laid in straight lines.
The usual form of an inspection cham¬ber has sides made of brick, often cement-rendered either on the inside or the out¬side. At the base of the hole are open channels to which the drains are connec¬ted and along which the water in the drains runs.
The inspection chamber is at a junction between three drains. The branch drain is connected to the main one with a specially shaped half-channel bend which is swept in the direction of the flow of water through the main channel.
The channels are built up with benching – smoothly finished concrete shaped to direct any splashes back into the chan¬nels. The top of an inspection chamber is covered with a manhole cover a heavy, cast-iron plate set in a cast-iron frame. If there is a manhole cover within a building it usually has to be screwed down to the frame and the joint sealed with grease.
With modern drain materials, it may not be necessary to have full-scale inspec¬tion chambers at all junctions and bends in the drain. Instead, rodding points may be used. Small circular inspection cham¬bers may also be fitted.
A rodding point has a length of pipe with a gentle bend connected at an angle to the drain. The other end of the pipe leads to ground level and is covered with a suitable removable cover. If the drain needs unblocking, the cover is removed and drain rods passed down into the drain. Rodding points are small and neat – unlike large, ugly manhole covers – but some inspection chambers may still be needed.
In older properties, the inspection chamber at the boundary of the property may have an interceptor trap fitted at the outlet of the channel. To gain access to the length of drain between the trap and the main sewer, the trap has its own rod¬ding arm which bypasses the U-bend. The rodding arm is fitted with a stopper (sometimes secured with a chain) to prevent the drain water from bypassing the U-bend, too.
This inspection chamber may also be ventilated by means of a short pipe pro¬jecting above ground from the side of the chamber. The pipe is usually fitted with a grilled ventilator, behind which is a flap. The theory is that the flap allows fresh air into the drain but prevents foul air from escaping. Ventilators are probably more of a hindrance than a help, and damaged ones can be removed completely rather than repaired. Interceptor traps also give problems the rodding arm stopper can fall out and cause a blockage in the trap if it is not suspended by a chain.

Use of High Pressure Pump
Use of High Pressure Pump
Most high pressure pumps are designed specifically for commercial and industrial situations. They will move air or liquid at a smooth, even pace. Depending on the model, a high pressure pump may be programmable or come with a timer, flow rate display, stop function, multifunction valves and other features. There are certain things that should be considered before purchasing a high pressure pump. Look at the output flow rate, measured in milliliters, liters, quarts or gallons per minute or hour, output pressure, measured in pounds per square inch, and applicable substances, as corrosive liquids require corrosion-resistant high pressure pumps. Know what you need from a high pressure pump. High pressure pumps are made to work effectively but only when they are utilized as the manufacturer intended. This means that you need to know your jobs.
The uses of high pressure pumps are almost limitless, and so are the options available. Check out the right high pressure pump for the type of product you need. Maintain your high pressure pumps. A small investment in maintenance and repair can prevent pump failure, saving you big bucks. Use a consumer-safe grease to maintain high pressure water supply pumps. Keep your pumps on a regular maintenance schedule to get the most out of your investment. High- pressure liquid pumps are known around the world as dependable, continuous duty, long-life pumps. How To Lift And Carry A Cast Iron Radiator
How To Lift And Carry A Cast Iron Radiator
Many people have purchased a quantity of cast iron radiators on the internet and are surprised when 1.5 tons of metal arrive at their door requiring much strength to lift and place into position, especially when stairs are involved.
Cast Iron Radiators are much heavier than modern steel radiators and care should be taken when moving a cast iron radiator. Cast Iron Radiators are often delivered strapped onto a pallet as a pallet supports the full length of a radiator. It is advisable to have sufficient help when receiving cast iron radiators to ensure that the radiators are handled correctly into the position required.
Reputable dealer’s custom build all cast iron radiators to a length depending on how many sections are required to heat individual rooms effectively. Each section is carefully put together the old fashioned way tightened by hand with a gasket between each section creating a water tight seal. Each radiator is pressure tested before delivery ensuring the radiator is water tight. A common cause of leakage from a radiator is too much strain being placed on the gaskets when a radiator is being moved incorrectly. Cast iron radiators must be carried in an upright position at all times so no strain is put on the gaskets. Carrying the radiators flat (horizontally) or dragging the radiator will put too much strain on the gaskets causing them to become weakened and thus subsequently leak. This is a problem especially if your radiator is particularly long and heavy.
Please take care when lifting cast iron radiators as cast iron is heavy, a cast iron radiator can weigh anywhere between 20kg to 400kg. Always follow the correct HSE lifting guidelines. Bend at your knees and lift with your legs and arms rather than bending over with your back. Never attempt to lift a cast iron radiator on your own or be tempted to drag the radiator across the floor surface into position for plumbing.
The best and safest way to manage carrying a cast iron radiator upright (vertically) is to use two short pieces of wood or metal bars with dimensions of 20mm x 50mm x 250mm. These pieces of wood or metal bars will make good handles when inserted between the last two sections at either end of the radiator.
A help sheet on how to carry and lift traditional radiators should be provided by reputable dealers upon ordering your radiators and this should be handed over to all those handling the delivery and installing the radiators.
If cast iron radiators are carried correctly, no leakages should occur allowing you to enjoy the benefits and beauty of owning a cast iron radiator without any stress.
With many years in the heating and plumbing industry Edward Hall has been writing on such subjects as cast iron radiators and traditional radiators imparting his vast knowledge on the subject.

Can You Distinguish Mizuno Mx-200 Irons And Mizuno Mx-300 Irons
Can You Distinguish Mizuno Mx-200 Irons And Mizuno Mx-300 Irons
The Mizuno MX-200 Iron’s sees Grain Flow Forged forgiveness takes a huge step forward with the introduction of Y-Tune. A milled deep pocket cavity – that keeps the MX-200’s one piece feel intact – enhances the large sweet area even further. This allows the sweet area to match the miss hit patterns of amateur golfers. The MX-200 is the iron for both amateurs and professionals with a solid hitting area combined with an aggressive sole design. Mizuno’s MX-200 matches cast irons for forgiveness and increases the effectiveness of the sweet area by moving it towards the toe area of the club giving extra distance even on mishits. The X-200 iron proves that forged irons can be as playable as cast irons for the mid to low handicapper.
The Mizuno MX-200 irons are a big improvement on the MX-25 Irons. Not only do they look better but the Y-tune design on the back of the head does make them very forgiving. The other major benefit is that the trajectory is excellent throughout the set and the ball does not balloon off the face despite the cavity pocket on the back of the club head. This weighting does mean that the lofts on the Mizuno MX-200 irons are a little stronger than the corresponding MP irons. However the feel is almost as good as the MP irons as the forged heads offer great feedback combines with lots of confidence from the oversized heads. We really like the short irons where the cavity has been reduced and is covered up to give a sleek look and great feedback. The Mizuno MX-200 irons are one of the best forged irons around for mid handicappers so try them out!

The Mizuno MX-300 iron has been designed to provide players with a reduced offset, more compact alternative to the popular MX-200 range, with a club head top line and face size that places the Mizuno MX-300 falls directly between the MP-52 and MX-200. Featuring both an undercut cavity and Grain Flow forged feel this means the MX-300 offers the assistance of a game improvement irons with the shot making ability of the MP range.
The MX-300 uses Mizuno’s Y-Tune technology from the MX200 to provide a full cavity club with enhanced feel and control but in a reconfigured shape. This enables Mizuno to strengthen the area around the toe for more forgiveness. The sole of the MX-300 irons is also dual cambered to minimize turf drag and digging at impact.
In the 3 to 7 irons a milled pocket cavity redistributes 12 grams of weight lower in the club head to provide a high, penetrating launch angle. The cavity is 1mm larger in the 3 to 5 irons and then decreases in the 6 and 7 irons. In the 8 to pitching wedge the cavity is covered up and the solid power bar design gives the shorter irons much greater workability and feel.
We were very impressed with the Mizuno MX-200 irons Mizuno considering them to be the best game improvement irons that Mizuno have produced. So we were excited to hear about the new MX-300 irons which Mizuno say are ideal for those players looking for the reassurance of the MX series combined with the workability of the MP series. Mizuno have placed a lot of faith in the MX-300 and it is easy to see why. They have managed to successfully combine the forgiveness of the MX series with the forged feel and more compact head of the MP series. On the course the feel was very good for what is a mid handicappers iron and the solid power bar was particularly good in the short irons. We were not so keen on the large cavity on the longer irons but if you can put that out of your mind the performance of the longer irons was also very good. In terms of forgiveness there was not much between the MX-300 and MP-58s, so check them both out as they have different looks with very similar performance.
