Can you melt silver peace dollars?
I want to know if you cant melt peace dollars for the silver. It wont be used to sell as silver i need silver to cast. this is the cheapest way to find silver. the value of a peace dollar now is cheaper than its silver content…and im not talking on ebay, those prices are crazy. But i cant seem to find if its legal or not. Some people say its illegal to melt coins, are those just new coins? (ex, pennies for copper) please help
1. i only need about 3 ounces…not an entire ingot
2. whos telling the truth is it legal to melt 192x’s coins or not??? and 3. the value of a poor quality peace dollar is about 2 bucks…the silver value not counting the copper is $10
